About Us
OUR MISSION:
Haitian Earthquake Relief (HERnow), a charitable, tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) organization, is dedicated to facilitating reconstruction and recovery efforts in Haiti. HERnow is focused on providing relief and support through the acquisition and distribution of medical personnel, medication, resources, supplies and education.
WHAT WE DO AND HOW YOU CAN HELP:
HERnow has implemented a program for international medical personnel who are looking to volunteer in the Haitian health care system. Volunteers within the medical profession are desperately needed. We also provide housing and placement services for other individuals who would like to volunteer in Haiti.
Hundreds of thousands of displaced Haitians are still living in makeshift tent communities and will be for the foreseeable future, making it increasingly difficult to provide even basic necessities. In addition to working with local hospitals and clinics to ensure they have necessary medical personnel and supplies, HERnow provides aid and resources to Haitians living in tent cities, orphanages and rural communities who do not otherwise have access to medical care.
HER is currently one of the only organizations on the ground focused on creating and maintaining a medical chart and history for each patient. Throughout this crisis, it has become increasingly evident that the charting of patients’ medical histories is critical to solving the ongoing health crisis in Haiti. Without documentation of a patient’s medical history, it is virtually impossible for doctors to follow up on any preexisting condition or illness or provide proper care as new issues arise.
Send us an email at contact@hernow.org for more information on how you can help. Online donations are now accepted and go directly toward the purchase of resources such as supplies and medication for the people of Haiti.
